On 29th
September 2010 the Leicester Partnership held a meeting with the Voluntary and
Community Sector at Vista to inform them about the financial challenges facing
the public sector in Leicester and the
possible impact on the Sector.
The meeting was
addressed by Sheila Lock, Chief Executive, Leicester City Council, and from NHS
Leicester City Patsy Roseblade, Director of Finance and Vikki Taylor,
Director of Strategy & Market Management.
The meeting was
also address by Julie Foster, the new chair of the Leicester Compact Steering
Group.
Over 50
organisations attended the meeting where they were not only briefed on the
challenges the two public sector organisations were facing, but were also given
a number of challenges. Sheila Lock challenged the sector to work in
partnerships to deliver public services in the same way they where doing with
the police and PCT, for example identifying common practices were resources
could be shared and the cost for delivering services reduced to the group and
the Council, e.g. administration.
The report on the meeting with the funded
Voluntary and Community Sector that was hosted by the Leicester Partnership is now available "The Impact of the Financial Challenges Facing the Public Sector".
