Introduction
Leicester's voluntary and
community sector (VCS) is an intrinsic part of the city and wish to see it
continue to flourish and play its part in transforming Leicester into Britain’s
sustainable city, improving the economic, social and environmental wellbeing
across the city. It is a route for
people to be involved in their communities to shape and influence decisions,
bring resources into the city, provide positive activities and services and a
way for them to develop and grow.
Aim
The VCS and Public Sector
Strategy Group aims is to create an environment in which the VCS and the public
sector are able to discuss issues of mutual interest and enable the VCS to
influence decisions regarding the delivery of public services. It will do this
through:
- Supporting the development and implementation of
a shared vision and strategy for creating a strong VCS and a positive working
relationship between the VCS and public agencies,
- Promoting and developing the Compact between the
voluntary and community sector and public services, and
- Providing advice, support and scrutiny on the
relationship between the VCS and public services and a mechanism to raise
issues of concern in the areas identified below.
The groups’ terms of
reference reflects the new direction the group has adopted.
